What this blog is for

Growing Capacity, Inc. is a consultancy founded by Ken Davies in March 2012 to promote investment for development. Its website www.growingcapacity.com explains its objectives and methods very briefly.

The aim of this blog is to expand on the ideas that you will find on the website and to provide a forum for discussion on issues related to investment for development.

It will seek to answer many questions, including:

  • What do you mean by "investment"?
  • What sort of "development" are you referring to?
  • How can governments promote investment for development?
  • Why do societies need investment?
  • When you say "investment", do you just mean "foreign investment" or FDI?
  • Which stakeholders to you seek to involve in this process? Why?
  • Don't you think governments and companies are already doing all they can to promote investment?
  • How can a government in a very poor country achieve sustainable development?
  • Why don't you look at poor areas in rich countries as well?
  • Isn't it more effective to support official and unofficial aid programs?
  • How can you measure something as broad as "development"?
  • What has this got to do with how I should invest my savings?

This list is not intended to be exhaustive.

If you think of some questions I haven't included in the list, please suggest them at any time.

Please come back often to read and respond to blog posts.
